Patient Preferences for Long-Term Implant Care in Cochlear, Glaucoma and Cardiovascular Diseases

In the process of developing and implementing innovative implant technologies consideration patient preferences can be beneficial for patients, doctors developers. Nevertheless, in existing literature, there is still scarce knowledge patients’ perspectives on long-term care. this study, three discrete choice experiments (DCEs) were conducted context cochlear implants (CI, n = 92), glaucoma (GI, 21) cardiovascular (CVI, 23), examining relative importance attributes care from perspective. The participants chose between differently shaped options implant-related these generated selected based previous literature reviews, group discussions a diary study with patients. data analyzed via binary logit regression. CI-DCE, technological compatibility newer models, accessories or devices other manufacturers was highly valued by participants, whereas GI-DCE (in)dependency medication post-implantation had greatest influence participants’ behavior. CVI-DCE, attribute highest related to means securing treatment success. all DCE, shared decision making relatively important participants. Our results emphasized an adequate transfer advancements promoting benefits, such as availability comprehensible, understandable, high-quality information about current developments. Similarly, health literacy further pushing compatibility, durability safety are directions future development accordance preferences. Therefore, participation wearers encouraged.
